The romanticized immigrant story many of us second gen kids grew up with entails seeking safety and better opportunities as settlers to a place dubbed The United States of Amerikkka. When history is erased and whitewashed, we become unaware of how the need to leave our home country is caused by the place we’ve been taught to seek refuge in. A bias gets planted in our psyche that equates this stolen land as a beacon of hope. Although there are truths to having better opportunities, many, if not all, of the benefits afforded to us come at the expense and livelihoods of others and ultimately ourselves.

This spell is designed to interrupt and uproot the colonizer that has unconsciously taken residence within us. May this spell encourage us to untether from the fallacies of the so-called “American Dream” and realize the possibilities that exist beyond colonizer schemes.

Vol. 9 celebrates and honors the expansiveness of who we are. Each design is a wearable spell that affirms our existence beyond the binary, in the magical spaces where we embody the fullness of our humanness.

Wash inside out with cold water. Wash darker colors separately. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach or iron over screen print area.
